OCIO TSC Meeting Notes
- Technical Writer proposal - Mark Tichener:
- Would like a technical writer to help with the UX technical documentation
- An initial brief has been written, and would be good to leverage some of the work presented in previous SIGGRAPH courses.
- Mark also wants to also include aspects of this years' SIGGRAPH course.
- Carol has spoken with John Mertic about what resourses the ASWF can provide, and has recieved some initial candidates.
- Next step is to go to the ASWF Board, as this would be an extra expenditure for the TAC.
- SIGGRAPH:
- BOF - Fully remote - possibly a larger audience. Do we want a Q/A? Some pre-canned questions would be good too.
- Open Source Days - Tuesday 8th and Wednesday 9th of August. - Not much info about virtual / in person, might be like the first year (ie happening alongside other SIGGRAPH events)
- Perhaps we could arrange another meetup, either social or colour related.
- Issue 1621 - Default configs: https://github.com/AcademySoftwareFoundation/OpenColorIO/issues/1621
- Was discussed at configs meeting
- Add function call - create_default(string) which would generate one of the builtin configs
- perhaps presence or absense of the OCIO environment variable could drive this
- perhaps OCIO env var could be URI driven, to choose between the defaults - this might have a benefit if ever OCIO goes web
- Issue 1639 - Interchange roles: https://github.com/AcademySoftwareFoundation/OpenColorIO/issues/1639
- Should they be required? If they were required, it would be easier for DCC's to integrate with other colour management systems
- Hoping to have this for OCIO 2.2
- Lots of discussion in the issue for various interchange rolls, CIE compliance, ICC failures, etc.
- Use of chromatic adaption seems to be a big sticking point.
