OCIO Config Working Group Meeting Notes
- Where does linear go in the name:
- Doug - usually say "linear srgb" and not "srgb linear"
- Group decides: Linear sRGB. No dashes, linear first.
- For anything with a CLF, we need to have the modern name
- Remove roles from alias list?
- Yes please!
- Will need to update aliases we want in new column in spreadsheet. Will not pull from Legacy Aliases
- Make the short name the first in the aliases list?
- It's a bit brittle, relying on the order of the aliases. Could also argue that the legacy name should also be first, as folks will need to reference that too
- Thomas: should be a first class citizen - a function that generates a "slugified" name
- Group: we should go with what we have for now, and create an issue to deal with this later. Either in OCIO proper or in the config generation, to be decided
- Update role color space mapping
- Should we include texture_paint and matte_paint in the roles? No matter what we choose, something will break for someone
- default role: ACES-2065-1 or sRGB?
- Doug - in a lot of ways, the default role is superseded by the file rules in OCIOv2
- We should leave it ACES-2065-1
- ARRI LogC4: group decided to leave it out for SIGGRAPH release. Will add in a later release.
- Add pure gamma 2.2 display to ACES configs:
- It is a built-in.
- Defer for now.
- Review spreadsheet
- Exclude canonlog3 curve for now, as it will require a LUT for this release, revisit later
- Moving sRGB texture back to utility
- Studio config: two versions - LUT-free and with external LUT references
- Tabling for now - discuss at working group session next week to get group opinion
- Plan of attack:
- Michael updating spreadsheet
- merging all CLF PRs (except ARRI)
- Thomas will rebase studio branch and generate first look config
- Iterate!
