OCIO TSC Meeting Notes

  • OCIO 2.2.0 release update
    • Per Zach's question, should we keep the CG config as the default built-in config or switch to the Studio config?  Group: Let's stay with the CG config for now.
    • Doug: We are in good shape overall but found a couple of minor issues over the weekend.  First is that there are some bogus entries in the inactive_colorspaces list in the new configs.  These do not interfere with the functionality of the configs, but they will cause Config::validate to log warnings.  I don't think we need to fix these prior to the 2.2.0 release but wanted to get the TSC's thoughts.  Group: Let's proceed with the release and fix them later.
    • Doug: The second issue that we found is that we introduced a bug into ociocheck in one of the recent PRs that was causing it to not print warnings from Config::validate (hence the previous issue!).  We made a PR this morning to fix that.  Michael/Remi: We approved the PR, let's merge it prior to 2.2.0.
    • Doug: Remi, thank you for the new PR fixing some CI problems.  What is the group's opinion on getting that into 2.2.0?  Remi/Michael: We will need to get it into 2.2 at some point to address the Mac CI platform change.  But running the actions on this branch is especially time-consuming (1-2 hours).  It could wait for 2.2.1.  Decision: We will not put it in 2.2.0.
    • Michael: Who will do the PR to update the library version string?  Doug: Cedrik will do it.
    • Doug:  Last week was an amazing flurry of activity, huge shout outs to Remi and Michael for the great PRs and for the help bringing the release across the finish line!  Cedrik and I will proceed with the release this afternoon to meet our commitment to the VFX Reference Platform to have it done by the due date of October 31st.
  • Items for next meeting agenda
    • Granting committer privileges for Cedrik Fouco from Autodesk, who has been one of the primary contributors to the 2.2 release.
    • Discussion of the VFX industry build matrix spreadsheet.
